VICTORVILLE – Four suspects are behind bars after a botched armed robbery at the Tacos Mexico in the City of Victorville Thursday night. At around 10:37 p.m. a black man wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt walked into the location located at 14876 Bear Valley Road with a black handgun and demanded money. He went on, per witness statements, to search all of the customers while throwing a black bag at the female cashier. The cashier was ordered to put money the bag and out of fear for her safety, she complied.
The suspect fled, running east on Bear Valley Road toward Cottonwood Road, he then got into a black 2010 Toyota Camry that fled northbound on the 15 freeway. Per scanner traffic, a passenger in the suspect vehicle threw the handgun out of the window before exiting at the Palmdale Road exit. The suspect vehicle went southbound on Mariposa Road, stopping in front of the Green Tree Inn. Deputies following approached the vehicle and detained four suspects; three males and one female at gunpoint.
Deputies from the Victorville and Hesperia Stations responded to the Tacos Mexico to collect evidence and take witness statements. Witnesses arrived at the suspect location at around 11:20 p.m. to identify the suspects. The I-15 North on-ramp was shut down at the La Mesa/Nisqualli so that the California Highway Patrol (CHP) could search for the discarded evidence. The discarded 9 mm handgun registered out of San Diego was located on the right shoulder of the Palmdale Road offramp. The gray hooded sweatshirt with a matching description was located inside the suspect vehicle.
