YUCAIPA – The Yucaipa Police Department wants to send a message to those thinking it is acceptable to sell alcoholic beverages to minors. On Wednesday morning, in the Yucaipa and Unincorporated area of Mentone the Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) and the Yucaipa Police Department conducted a Minor Decoy Operation. “The purpose of the operation was to ensure retailers who sell alcoholic beverages were not selling to underage customers,” San Bernardino County Sheriff’s officials said.
Out of 44 locations selected for the operation, 36 in Yucaipa and 8 in Mentone; five Yucaipa businesses sold alcoholic beverages to the underage decoy. Authorities said that all those in violation were cited and will be facing both criminal and administrative actions through the ABC. The names of the businesses are not being released by Sheriff’s officials at this time.
