RANCHO CUCAMONGA – A Glendora man died only seven days after being taken into custody by the Fontana Police Department officials said.
Shaun Greene, 39 was being housed at the West Valley Detention Center Medical Housing unit since his arrest on Sunday, December 4, 2016. On Sunday, December 11, 2016, at approximately 12:05 p.m. Greene was sitting at a table eating lunch inside the common area when suddenly, without warning, he lost consciousness and slid out of his wheelchair onto the floor. Witnessing inmates notified prison staff. Immediately staff responded to Greene to administer life-saving procedures. Greene was transported to Kaiser Hospital in the City of Fontana, where he was pronounced dead at 1:00 p.m.
Greene was taken into custody by the Fontana Police Department and booked into the West Valley Detention Center for Assault with a Firearm on a Person, Terrorist Threats, Convicted Person in Possession of a Firearm and being Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance. He was housed in the Medical Housing unit due to numerous medical conditions. His cause of death is unknown at this time and an autopsy conducted by the Riverside County Coroner’s Office will determine the cause of his death.
All in-custody deaths are investigated as part of protocol, there is no information indicating that the death is suspicious in any way.
