RIVERSIDE – A 27-year-old woman was arrested after attempting to use a fraudulent credit card while with a male companion at a Riverside Kohls store Monday night. The Riverside police were made aware of the theft at around 8:30 p.m. and responded to the store located in the 19200 block of Van Buren Boulevard.
The male and female left the store and were quickly detained by officers while in their vehicle nearby. During a vehicle search police located evidence of other Kohls store thefts throughout the county. Officers learned that the two were both on probation for theft and felony violations, officials said. The woman, later identified as Ashly Casada from Lake Forest was booked into jail for theft and fraud. The male was released pending further investigation.
During investigations, police learned that Casada had researched the victim through a credit reporting agency and was aware of her advanced age.
The Riverside Police Department encourages the community to stay vigilant in checking your bank statements, financial records and credit reports for any suspicious activity.
