APPLE VALLEY – A homeless woman was found deceased at James Woody Park in the Town of Apple Valley on Friday, June 8, 2018.
At around 1:50 a.m. deputies responded to the park located near Navajo and Powhattan roads regarding the report of a deceased woman found at the park. When they arrived they learned that the victim, later identified as 40-year-old Monique Marty, had been murdered. Homicide investigators responded to the scene to assume the investigation. No arrests have been made at this time, but investigators are asking for any information from the public that may lead to the person responsible for her death.
