Wrightwood Man Arrested After Attempting to Carjack Good Samaritan

WRIGHTWOOD – A Wrightwood man was arrested after attempting to carjack the vehicle of a good Samaritan who stopped to assist him after a single-vehicle traffic collision. On Tuesday at around 12:42 a.m. Victor Valley station deputies responded to the report of a carjacking in the 1800 block of Thrush Road in Wrightwood.

When deputies arrived they located a motorcycle down and a vehicle stuck in a snowbank. Upon further investigation, they learned that the suspect, Daniel Sanchez, 24, of Wrightwood was intoxicated. They also learned that Sanchez was involved in a minor collision while on his motorcycle and the victim stopped to help him. When he stopped the good samaritan was pulled out of the vehicle, assaulted, and both the victim and Sanchez, slid down the embankment.

Sanchez then got up, got into the victim’s vehicle and attempted to leave, but crashed into a snowbank authorities said. Daniel Sanchez was arrested and booked into the High Desert Detention Center and is being held in lieu of $125,000 for the attempted carjacking. He is scheduled to appear at the Victorville Superior Court on Thursday afternoon.
