Young Barstow Man Dies in Alfa Apartment Fire

BARSTOW – A Barstow man lost his life as a result of a fire on Monday. At around 1:17 a.m. Barstow Police and the Barstow Fire Protection District responded to the 2011 Borrego Drive in the CIty of Barstow. When they arrived they found apartment #41 fully engulfed in flames. A woman at the scene told responders that her child was trapped inside the burning home. The heat of the fire shattered the glass sliding door of the apartment

Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire and inspected the interior of the apartment, where the located Vashaud Williams, 22, deceased in one of the bedrooms. Multiple investigators, including Detective Griego, Evidence Technician Deanna Schooler, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Bomb and Arson Division along with a deputy from the San Bernardino County Coroner’s Department responded to assist in the investigation.

The Red Cross was called to the scene to assist those displaced by the fire. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
