PLACENTIA – A 3-year-old child is recovering this evening after being attacked by a coyote in the City of Placentia on Monday.
Just before 1:30 p.m., a 9-1-1 call was received reporting that a child was bit in the head by a coyote at Parque del Arroyo Verde, located at 1001 E. Palm Drive. Officers from the Placentia Police Department responded to the scene and were made aware of the coyote still being in the area. A witness also reported that the coyote had attempted to bite him as well. The coyote was quickly located by officers in a residential neighborhood east of the park. The coyote was shot and killed. The Orange County Animal Care responded to the location to pick up the deceased coyote.
The child was transported to the hospital and is expected to recover. No other injuries were reported.
