Fontana Pursuit of Stolen Vehicle Ends in Fatal Crash

FONTANA – A man died and his female passenger was injured after a high-speed pursuit on Thursday.

Fontana police noticed the stolen vehicle in the area of Sierra and Upland Avenues in the City of Fontana. The officers followed the vehicle until backup arrived at the location. A traffic stop was initiated near Foothill Boulevard and Juniper Avenue. The driver failed to yield driving at speeds of approximately 70 miles per hour.

The male driver lost control hitting a tree near Arrow Boulevard and Tokay Avenue. The male driver was pronounced dead at the scene and  his female passenger was transported to a local hospital in serious condition.

The Ontario Police Department Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) is responding for the investigation into this collision.
