Adelanto Man Arrested For Sexually Assaulting and Threatening Neighbors

ADELANTO – A 23-year-old Adelanto man was arrested for sexual battery and criminal threats on Saturday evening.

The incident stemmed from a March 10, 2017, incident in the 12000 block of Sand Avenue in the City of Adelanto where the suspect, Joseph Acevedo approached his two 23-year-old female neighbors as they returned home. Authorities said that Acevedo appeared to be intoxicated as he staggered over to one of the women, grabbing her arm and asking her to have sex with him. He then pulled her hand down and grazed his genitals prior to the victim being able to free his grasp. He grabbed the second victim, also in a sexual manner. Acevedo continued to harass one of the female victims, as well as her boyfriend Sheriff’s officials said.

Over a month later, on Saturday, April 22, 2017, Acevedo again approached the boyfriend and challenged him to a fight. Acevedo’s girlfriend brought him a bat and a knife during the fight. Acevedo threatened the victims threatening to kill them and their children with a firearm.

Joseph Ryan Acevedo was arrested and booked into the High Desert Detention Center where he is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear at the Victorville Superior Court on Tuesday afternoon. The report will be forwarded to the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s office for possible charges against Acevedo’s girlfriend.
