PHELAN, Calif. – Baldy Mesa Elementary School announced on Monday morning that ammunition and razor blades were located on the playground at around 8:00 a.m.
When the items were located students had already been arriving on campus. Students were secured in the school’s multipurpose room until their parents could be notified to pick them up.
The school has closed Gate A until further notice and will be on inclement weather schedule for the day. In a statement on Monday morning, the school district said that they are working closely with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, who is investigating the incident.
School officials, through social media, asked that parents keep students at home or those who have already dropped them off, to pick them up. The investigation is ongoing, the information will be released as it becomes available.
