MENIFEE – The suspect involved in a armed robbery in the 30200 block of Haun Road in Menifee died at the hospital two days following his arrest officials said.
Roderick Williams, 38, of Los Angeles, was detained by loss prevention staff at the business location at around 12:04 p.m. on Friday, January 12, 2018. When deputies arrived they located Williams who was detained. Through investigation it was learned that Williams entered the business, removed items from the packaging and exited the business without paying. When loss prevention officers contacted Williams in the parking lot an altercation occurred. Loss prevention staff detained Williams and held him until officers arrived.
Williams was injured, possibly as a result of the altercation and was transported to a local hospital to be medically evaluated. Once at the hospital, Williams became unresponsive and his medical condition required emergency treatment. Williams was admitted to the Loma Linda University Medical Center in Murrieta where he stayed until Sunday, January 14, 2018, when he died at the hospital.
The Riverside County Sheriff’s Homicide Unit has assumed the investigation. The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is encouraged to contact them at 951-955-2777.
