PHELAN – A found male was identified only through fingerprints and authorities are seeking the whereabouts of his family, caretaker and/or homes.
On August 30, 2017, at around 4:03 p.m. the man was located near Schlitz and Phelan Roads in the unincorporated area of Phelan. The reporting party said that the man was disoriented and in a wheelchair. The man was non-verbal only able to nod and point. Deputies arrived and also were unable to get the man to speak or write.
Without having that communication, deputies were unable to determine his identity or where he lived. Utilizing databases of missing persons reports and using his fingerprints, they were still unable to determine his identity. The man was transported to St. Mary’s Medical Center and has remained there for the last week. Medical staff and deputies continued working with the man attempting to determine his identity. The man has remained alert but has not been able to identify himself or any other information.
Finally, the fingerprints determined who the man is, but they have still been unable to find those caring for him. The unidentified male is described as a Hispanic male adult, 60-70 years old, salt and pepper hair, approximately 5’05” tall and 130 pounds. He was found wearing a green sweater, gray sweatpants, and socks.
