Authorities are asking for the public’s help to locate a wanted Hesperia man.
On Tuesday, July 26, 2019, at around 5:29 a.m., sheriff’s dispatch received a report of possible illegal dumping in the are area of Orchid Avenue and Hackberry Street. The deputy responded to find an older Chevy truck, as described by the reporting party,that left the area.
The deputy initiated a traffic stop but the driver did not yield. The deputy followed the truck which eventually stopped on E. Santa Fe Ave. near Darwin. The deputy approached the vehicle and the driver began accelerating toward him. The deputy in fear for his life, shot toward the suspect vehicle. The driver sped away, over the railroad tracks where it became disabled.
The driver and his female passenger both exited the vehicle and fled on foot. The female was quickly detained but the driver got away. Detectives responded to the scene and identified the suspect.
It is unknown if Moore was injured during the shooting. The deputy, nor the passenger, sustained any injuries.
