BARSTOW, Ca. – A 62-year-old man who was on felony probation for previous drug-related offenses was arrested for evading police and transportation of suspected methamphetamine.
Authorities said that on Monday, July 20, 2020, at around 12:25 a.m.. a Barstow Police officer noticed a silver Honda Civic traveling westbound in the 2100 of W. Main Street in the City of Barstow without a brake light. He attempted to stop the vehicle but the vehicle continued on. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Thomas Stephen Thompson, a convicted felon.
Thompson continued to flee ignoring traffic signals and signs. He dumped bags containing suspected methamphetamine out of his vehicle. Thompson eventually yielded to the officers in the 36000 block of Soapmine Road. Officers contacted Thompson and placed him under arrest without incident. Officers conducted a search of his vehicle and located methamphetamine on the driver’s seat and on the door of the vehicle.
Thompson was booked at the High Desert Detention Center for evading a peace officer and transportation of a controlled substance.
