BARSTOW – A 21-year-old Barstow man was arrested for physically assaulting a man and stealing his cell phone officials said.
At around 4:35 a.m. Barstow Police responded to the Ramada Inn, located at 1511 East Main Street for the report of a robbery. When they arrived they learned that the suspect, later identified as Eric Burdett allegedly approached the parked vehicle that the victim sat in. The victim said that Burdett then struck him in the head and stole his cell phone. Burdett then fled westbound towards Circle K.
While responding to the area, Officer Ronan Colleoc noticed Burdett, who matched the suspect description walking away from the area of the robbery. He made contact with Burdett, who said that he was involved in a physical altercation with a man at the Ramada Inn. Officers took Burdett to the location of the victim, where he was positively identified as the suspect who robbed him. Burdett was arrested and searched. The victim’s cell phone was found in his possession and he was found to have an outstanding Los Angeles County warrant for an unrelated vehicle theft.
Burdett was booked into jail for robbery and being held in lieu of $100,000 bail. He is expected to appear at the Victorville Superior Court on Thursday afternoon.
