BARSTOW – A 61-year-old Barstow man was arrested after making sexual comments to a 12-year-old girl as she walked her dog, officials said.
On Wednesday evening at around 7:25 p.m. the female child was walking in the 1600 block of Sunset Street when the suspect later identified as Arnulfo Navarro allegedly made the comments. Although authorities immediately had information leading them to believe that Navarro was the suspect, additional investigation was necessary in order to confirm. The following day positive identification was made, confirming that Navarro was, in fact, the man who made the comments to the 12-year-old girl.
Detectives attempted to contact Navarro at his Sunset Street home, but he was not home. Shortly after, Navarro was located walking on Sunrise Road and Broadway Avenue, where he was placed under arrest for annoying or molesting a child. He was booked into the High Desert Detention Center where he is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.
Anyone with further information regarding this investigation may contact Detective Peter D’Andrea at 760-255-5183 or the Barstow Police Department at 760-256-2211.
