VICTORVILLE – A 29-year-old Barstow man who inappropriately touched a 12-year-old girl at the Hesperia Golden Corral Restaurant on Saturday, June 3, 2017, was convicted of annoying or molesting a child under 18. A jury who deliberated for only a half an hour found Seguin Munoz guilty of the misdemeanor charge that only carries a maximum one-year sentence, but Munoz will be required to register as a sex offender.
At around 5:15 p.m. a 12-year-old girl was having dinner with her family as Munoz, who was not known to the victim, was separately having dinner with his father and brother. The girl got up to wash out her baby brother’s sippy cup and Munoz got up to follow the girl to the restroom. He touched her breast and when she tried to leave he pushed her hand off of the restroom door handle. He then left and although deputies conducted an extensive area check, he was not immediately located.
Suspect Munoz was eventually identified and was contacted at his home. He was taken into custody and booked into the Barstow Jail. He was released on $250,000 bail on Wednesday, June 14, 2017. When he was convicted he was taken back into custody, where he awaits sentencing on Friday, October 6, 2017, at the Victorville Superior Court.
