Big Bear Man Died in SR-38 Traffic Collision

FAWNSKIN – A 35-year-old Big Bear City man lost his life after traveling off of SR-38 into an embankment. Eric R. Caston and his pickup truck were located in the area of Juniper Point in Fawnskin early Sunday morning. Emergency responders determined that Mr. Caston, who was ejected from the vehicle sustained fatal injuries and was dead on arrival.

Through investigation, CHP officials determined that Mr. Caston was traveling eastbound when for reasons still under investigation his vehicle left the roadway. CHP and Sheriff’s officials are not certain of the exact time of the collision but said it happened sometime through the night.
