Eastbound 91 Freeway Closures Expected September 9th-11th

CORONA – There will be a full closure of the eastbound 91 freeway the weekend of September 9th-11th, Caltrans officials announced. This closure is as a result of the Riverside County Transportation Commission (RCTC) 91 Project and there will be two full closures in the Corona area this weekend.

On Friday, September 9, 2016 at 11:59 p.m. to Sunday, September 10th at 9:00 a.m. the 91 freeway will be closed at the I-15. The second closure will be on the 91 freeway, again eastbound at Maple Street on Saturday, September 10, 2016 from 10:30 p.m. on Sunday to Sunday, September 11, 2016 at noon.

Drivers are urged to avoid the area. An alternate route can include using the eastbound 60 freeway to the southbound 15 freeway to the 91 freeway. Caltrans said that for the first closure at the I-15 that drivers will be directed to the southbound 1-15 where they can exit at Magnolia Avenue and re-enter northbound I-15 to the eastbound 91 connector. The eastbound 91 freeway to northbound I-15 connector will closed.

For the second closure at Maple Street, motorists will be directed to exit Maple Street, turn left on Paseo Grande. Drivers can re-enter eastbound 91. Westbound will remain open throughout the weekend during these closures.

Caltrans District 8 also would like to remind drivers that there will be additional work being done on the 91 eastbound lanes in Orange County. This work is led by Caltrans in conjunction with the Orange County Transportation Authority.

This work will cause closures to the eastbound 91 Express Lanes in Orange County from Friday September 9th at 11:00 p.m. to Monday, September 12th at 6:00 a.m.This closure is being done to perform repaving work between the 55 freeway and Imperial Highway.
