Update & Correction: 24/7 Headline News reported based on the Sheriff’s Press release that the child was 5-years-old. The child has now been identified by the Sheriffs-Coroner’s office as 4-year-old Gideon Zilberstein, of Woodland Hills.
LAKE ARROWHEAD – A 5-year-old boy died Sunday evening after falling from a boat, sustaining major injuries officials said. The boat, carrying two families was on Lake Arrowhead being operated by a male adult. The mother of the young victim was water skiing and was being pulled by the boat when she fell.
The boat operator turned back to assist the female skier, during which time the small boy fell from the boat into the water. When falling the boy was struck by the boat and sustained traumatic injuries. The boat operator and victim’s father quickly jumped into the water to get the child.
The ALA — Arrowhead Lake Association responded within minutes, fire personnel also responded at which time the boy was pronounced dead. The incident remains under investigation but intoxication does not appear to be a factor and authorities confirm all of the children were wearing personal floatation devices.
