YUCAIPA – A 17-year-old Yucaipa High School student was found to be in possession of a firearm on Friday. At around 10:00 a.m. the drug canine contracted by the school district alerted to the possible presence of drugs in a vehicle in the school parking lot. The student, who was sleeping in the vehicle was contacted by school security.
During a search of the vehicle a firearm, ammunition, and marijuana residue were located. The Sheriff’s Department was contacted to conduct an investigation and the home of the student was searched. There was no indication that the school or any students were targeted or threatened. A criminal report for a firearm in a school zone will be submitted to the District Attorney’s Office.
