YUCAIPA, Calif. – Authorities are asking for the public’s help to identify an attempted robbery suspect.
At around 12:24 a.m. on Thursday, January 31, 2019, deputies responded to a robery alarm at the 7-Eleven store located in the 32400 block of Yucaipa Boulevard. When they arrived they learned that the clerk fought off the suspect who had attempted to rob the store. He then fled the location.
Through investigation, deputies determined that the suspect entered the store and demanded that the victim placed money from the register into a bag. “The victim pushed an alarm button and tried to stall the suspect until deputies arrived,” said Yucaipa Sheriff’s officials said in a written statement. “The suspect pushed the victim, and they began fighting. The suspect knocked over merchandise racks and threatened to shoot the clerk and the clerk eventually subdued the suspect and ended the fight.” The suspect fled the location walking south of 14th street.
The suspect is described as being a white man, in his 40’s, with short brown hair and a receding hairline. He was last seen wearing a purple hooded jacket, black bandana/facemask, black jeans or sweats, black gloves and black backpack
