FONTANA – A 38-year-old Fontana man was arrested for the armed robbery of the Baker’s Drive-Thru on Valley Boulevard, officials said. On Monday morning the suspect, later identified as Juan Ornelas went to the Baker’s Drive-Thru located at 18775 Valley Boulevard. According to Sheriff’s officials he entered the restaurant with his shirt over his head while holding a tire iron. He slammed the tire iron on the counter as he demanded money from the cashier.
The employees gave the suspect an undisclosed amount of money and he fled the scene in what witnesses described as a dark-colored 2008 Toyota Scion XB. Deputies were given the vehicle description and his possible location.
Shortly after deputies made contact with Ornelas in the 2000 block of West San Bernardino Avenue in an unincorporated area of Fontana. Items used in the robbery and the stolen cash was located in Ornelas’ possession. He was subsequently arrested and booked into the West Valley Detention Center for Robbery.
