HESPERIA, Ca. – A 39-year-old Hesperia man was shot and killed near Live Oak Street and Mango Avenue in the City of Hesperia, authorities said.
On Wednesday, March 3, 2021, at around 12:11 p.m deputies responded to a call of shots heard. When they arrived they located Alberto Vargas, lying unresponsive in the roadway. Medical personnel arrived shortly after and pronounced the victim deceased. Homicide detectives were called to the scene to assume the investigation. Through investigation it was learned that Alexander Luna, 25, of Hesperia, was identified as the suspect. It was learned that the victim and the suspect were walking on Live Oak Street when for unknown reasons, Luna shot Vargas. Luna then attempted to flee the scene.
Luna was booked at the High Desert Detention Center for murder.
