HESPERIA – The 20-year-old Hesperia man who was arrested for the abuse of a 2-year-old child on in May was sentenced and released last week. Zachary Meddaugh pleaded guilty on June 2nd to felony child abuse and was sentenced on June 30th.
Meddaugh was arrested after a May 22nd report accusing him of abusing the young child. The reporting party had photo evidence of bruising, welts and scratches on the young child’s face that she was able to provide to responding deputies. She told deputies that the photos were provided by another family member, who the deputies also interviewed.
Through interviews, it was learned that the injuries were sustained the night of Saturday, May 21st, while the child was in the care of family member, Zachary Meddaugh.
Using the information and materials collected during the investigation, deputies obtained a warrant for the arrest of Meddaugh. On Monday, May 23rd Meddaugh went to the Hesperia Police Department for an interview and was subsequently booked into the High Desert Detention Center.
On June 30th, Meddaugh appeared at the Victorville Superior Court for sentencing and was sentenced to 39 days time served. Sentencing includes mandatory 4 years of supervised probation and a 52-week Domestic Violence Batterers Program. Meddaugh was released from jail the night of June 30th.
