ADELANTO – An 18-year-old Hesperia woman was arrested for robbing a victim she and a male friend met during an arranged Facebook Marketplace meeting on Wednesday.
A male victim contacted Kori Barry in response to her ad selling and Apple iPod on the Facebook Marketplace.
The two had arranged to meet at the corner of Villa and Allison Streets in the City of Adelanto where they would complete the $100 transaction at around 9:30 a.m. The two met at the location and Barry and an unidentified black male approached the victim’s vehicle. Barry pointed a black handgun at the victim and demanded the money from him. He gave Barry the $100 cash and both suspects fled the location on foot. The victim attempted to follow the suspects, but lost them and went home to report the incident.
The investigation led to authorities identifying Barry as the suspect and her home address was also identified. A witness was able to identify Barry using a photo lineup. A search warrant was obtained and served at Barry’s home in the 15000 block of Sequoia Avenue in the City of Hesperia. She was not home at the time of the search warrant, but subsequently turned herself into the Victor Valley Station where she was arrested for armed robbery. She was booked into the High Desert Detention Center and being held in lieu of $200,000 bail.
The investigation is ongoing to identify the male suspect. Anyone with information regarding this crime is urged to contact Deputy John Gice at Victor Valley Sheriff’s Station, (760) 552-6800.
