LANCASTER, Calif. – The Lancaster Sheriff’s Station had a big announcement on Monday morning.
When the employees arrived at work the patio area was taped off. This is the area where the employees oftentimes eat their lunch. They wondered if a crime was committed right on the Sheriff’s Department property or if maybe, something broke.
When employees asked they learned that a mother hummingbird chose a tree in the patio area to create a nest and lay her eggs. “Two sweet baby hummingbirds have since hatched and mama is doing a great job of feeding them,” Lancaster Sheriff’s officials said. “We have taped off the area near the nest so mama can raise her babies and teach them to fly. Seems mama hummingbird knew this would be a safe place for her babies. We can always eat our lunch somewhere else!”
