LUCERNE VALLEY – A Lucerne Valley man was arrested after punching his child in the face authorities said. The incident was reported on Tuesday, January 17, 2017, when school personnel at Lucerne Valley High School said that the victim described the assault that occurred on January 15th.
A Victor Valley station arrived at the school and made contact with the victim who said that a verbal argument led to the physical abuse. Jose Alfonso Sanchez-Arias , 56, was accused of punching his child (the victim) in the face. When the deputy attempted to make contact with Arias he was unable to locate him.
The suspect walked into the station to speak with the responding deputy on Monday, January 23, 2017, and was subsequently arrested for corporal injury to a child. He was booked into the High Desert Detention Center in the City of Adelanto.
Victor Valley Station officials said that the Victorville District Attorney’s office filed misdemeanor charges against Arias on January 24, 2017.
Arias appeared at the Victorville Superior Courton the morning of Thursday, January 26, 2017. The court ordered the release of Arias was on Thursday afternoon. A protection order was filed ordering Arias from contacting the victim.
