BARSTOW, Calif. – A 44-year-old man was arrested for the vandalism of multiple business locations in the City of Barstow on Sunday.
At around 6:49 a.m., Barstow police were made aware of a vandalism at the San Bernardino County Building location in the 1900 block of E. Main Street. When they arrived they saw the two large glass plate windows that were broken. Surveillance footage captured part of the incident. Two other businesses reported that their windows were also broken out. Video surveillance from those incidents was also captured. A fourth business located in the 1400 block of E. Main Street also reported a broken window.
Authorities said that the total damage is estimated to be over $3500. Officers reviewed the surveillance and determined that Daniel Kern was the suspect. Kern was located near Del Taco on Mountain View where he was taken into custody. A hatchet was found in his possession, which based on the surveillance, was what was used to break the windows. The hatchet was booked as evidence. Kern was arrested for vandalism.
