Man Arrested for Punching and Hitting Elderly Man with Car

MUSCOY – A 34-year-old man is arrested after punching and hitting an 80-year-old family member with his vehicle Thursday evening.  Suspect Oscar Vegagarduno and the elderly victim live together in the 1900 block of Porter St in an unincorporated area of Muscoy, Sheriff’s officials said.

The two got into a verbal altercation about money which led Vegagarduno to punch the elderly man in the mouth, causing injury. He continued to assault the victim when he got into his vehicle and hit the victim with the vehicle causing him to fall. He then fled the scene prior to deputy arrival.

The victim suffered only minor injuries and was treated at the scene. Deputies were made aware when Vegagarduno returned to the home at around 11:30 p.m. Deputies arrived and arrested Vegagarduno and booked him into the Central Detention Center for elder abuse and assault with a deadly weapon.
