DESERT HOT SPRINGS – A 20-year-old man was arrested for the sexual assault of a young child authorities said. On June 10, 2017, at around 11:50 p.m. Desert Hot Springs Police responded to a home in the 67000 block of Two Bunch Palms Trail for the report of a suspect entering the home and sexually assaulting the young child.
When officers arrived the searched the area in an attempt to locate the suspect but were unable to locate him. Officers, detectives and crime scene investigators collected forensic evidence leading to Angel Lua, 20, of Mecca. Lua was also identified as the suspect involved in a second attempted assault in the 13000 block of Verbena Drive. A warrant was obtained for Lua’s arrest and on Wednesday Lua was located in the community of North Shore.
Lua was arrested and transported back to Desert Hot Springs PD where he was processed. He was later booked into the Riverside County Jail in Banning on a felony warrant for Penal Code 288 – Lewd and Lascivious Acts on a Child, PC 289 – Sexual Penetration on a Child, PC 459 – Residential Burglary. He is currently held in lieu of $2,100,000 bail.
