Man Arrested Over a Month After Punching a Woman for Rejecting Sexual Advances

RIVERSIDE – A 22-year-old Riverside man was arrested on Friday for punching a woman after she rejected his sexual advances last month.

On Sunday, March 12th, the victim and her friends were walking from the 3600 block of Mission Inn Avenue to her car in a parking garage located at 3473 Orange Street in the City of Riverside. A male suspect, later identified as Matthew Seys followed the victim making sexual advances towards her. The female rejected the advances and Seys punched her in the face causing significant injuries.

The victim was able to capture part of the incident with her cell phone and the video was released to the public in hopes that someone would recognize the suspect. Several tips were received by the detectives, leading to the suspect’s identity.  On Friday night the Riverside Police Department METRO Team located and arrested Seys. He was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon.
