BARSTOW – A 40-year-old man lost his as a result of a traffic collision on Friday. At approximately 3:15 a.m., according to California Highway Patrol (CHP) officials, the man was driving his 2016, Nissan Altima northbound on the I-15 at around 70 mph.
As the vehicle approached Outlet Center Drive, he allowed the vehicle to drift from the #2 lane into the right shoulder, and through a drainage culvert. The vehicle then went airborne and collided with the Outlet Center Drive bridge and landed on its roof.
The driver sustained major, life-threatening injuries, and was transported to Barstow Community Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The collision remains under investigation by the CHP, Barstow. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the collision.
