INDIO – A 24-year-old La Quinta man died after being struck by two vehicles on Sunday CHP officials said.
Just before 3:00 a.m. the male pedestrian, later identified as Ramon Gomez, was walking on the eastbound lanes of freeway crossing southbound just east of Golf Center Parkway.
The first vehicle, a 1999 Chevrolet Astro van driven by a 42-year-old Tucson, Arizona man hit Gomez. Immediately after the first vehicle hit him, a second vehicle, a 1999 Porsche Boxter driven by a 32-year-old Gladstone Oregon man hit him.
Gomez was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported as a result of the collision. The collision remains under investigation. Alcohol and/or drugs may have been a facto in the collision. Anyone with information about the collision is asked to contact the Indio CHP Officer Severing at (760)772-8911.
