ONTARIO – CHP officials issued a SigAlert due to male pedestrian jumping to his death onto the 10 freeway on Friday afternoon. The unidentified male was reported, per CHP incident logs, to have jumped from the 15 freeway southbound overpass onto the 10 freeway westbound landing in the #1 lane of traffic at around 12:30 p.m.
A SigAlert was issued at 12:33 p.m., closing the #1 and #2 lanes of traffic, so that the incident could be investigated and to allow the coroner time to arrive at the scene. The man was believed to have left his gray or silver colored SUV on the 15 freeway prior to jumping off the overpass to his death, officials said.
The identity of the man will be released pending positive identification and notification of next of kin.
This is the second jumping death in the same general area in just over a month, the first being Apple Valley High School Counselor Carol Pulice. Pulice jumped off of the 15 freeway south overpass to her death landing on the dirt shoulder of the 10 freeway eastbound on Tuesday, September 13, 2016.
*UPDATE 2:26 pm SigAlert cancelled and all lanes reopened.
