LOMA LINDA – The father of a 1-month-old boy was sentenced to 11 years in prison for the abuse that left the newborn with a catastrophic brain injury officials said.
On January 24. 2016, the then 23-year-old Christian Tressa was watching the baby and his other son, who was 1-year-old. The three were at their home in the 11000 block of San Mateo Drive in the City of Loma Linda when the baby was injured. Tressa reported to hospital staff and authorities that the newborn was in a rocking bassinet that was placed on top of an ottoman and fell.
Bruises appeared on the baby the following morning and Tressa called the mother of the baby who wanted to take him to the hospital. Tressa encouraged her to wait, which they did until later that day when together they took the baby to Loma Linda University Hospital several hours later. The doctors reported that the baby had a brain injury, but their findings were not consistent with the father’s account of how the injury occurred. The baby fell into a coma as a result of the injury.
Tressa now 24-years-old was sentenced to 11-years in prison for child abuse leading to great bodily/permanent injury. The case was investigated by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Crimes Against Children Division.
