RIVERSIDE – A 33-year-old man was arrested for a late-2015 sexual assault of a 13-year-old girl, officials said. The victim said she was assaulted by Josue Mejia and during the assault, she feared for her life. A relative arrived home unexpectedly during the assault.
Following the assault Mejia could not be found. The METRO Team assumed the investigation and were assigned to located and arrest Mejia. Mejia was first tracked in the Plano Texas area, later he was tracked in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The U.S. Marshal Service Task Force in Oklahoma was notified and quickly found and arrested on June 28th.
Mejia is awaiting extradition back to Riverside County where he faces sexual assault charges. In addition to the sexual assault charges, Mejia is being investigated by I.C.E. in relation to his immigration status.
