CAJON VALLEY – A 74-year-old North Hollywood man sustained fatal injuries as a result of a traffic collision on the SR-138 on Monday evening.
California Highway Patrol (CHP) officials said that just before 5:30 p.m. a 37-year old Fontana man (driver #1) was traveling eastbound on the SR-138 at approximately 30 miles per hour. The traffic ahead slowed causing him to strike the back of a white 2008 Ford F-250 (driver #2) that was ahead of him. The impact sent the vehicle of driver #1 over the double yellow lines and into the westbound lane and into a westbound driving 2011 Toyota 4Runner (vehicle #3) driven by a 66-year-old North Hollywood woman.
Emergency personnel arrived at the scene and determined that the rear right passenger of vehicle #3, a 74-year-old man sustained fatal injuries. The identity of the deceased man is being withheld at this time time. The driver of vehicle #2 was uninjured, the driver of vehicle #1 and his 10-year-old male passenger were transported to Loma Linda Medical Center for the treatment of their injuries. The driver of vehicle #3 and her 65-year-old female passenger were transported to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center for the treatment of their injuries.
Alcohol or drugs are not a suspected factor in the collision. The cause collision remains under investigation.
