PALM DESERT – Two male suspects were arrested after stealing the purses from two women who were seated in an outside patio area in Palm Desert on Monday.
The women were sitting on the patio in the 73000 block of El Paseo in Palm Desert. When the incident occurred a security guard noticed and sprung into action, chasing the suspects. He did not capture the suspects but was able to provide a suspect and suspect vehicle description to responding Palm Desert Station deputies.
The deputies spotted the vehicle near Magnesia Falls and Portola Avenue in Palm Desert. The vehicle was stopped and two subjects who matched the suspect description were detained and later, positively identified as the suspects. The stolen property was located and returned to the victims.
The suspects were identified as Grant Ewing, 23, of Desert Hot Springs and Shyheed Boyd, 18, Desert Hot Springs. Both suspects were booked into the County Jail in Indio for Grand Theft, and Conspiracy. A parole hold was placed on Ewing after it was discovered he was on active parole for burglary.
