PALMDALE – A 29-year-old Palmdale man was arrested after fatally stabbing his 82-year-old grandmother to death and injuring his 56-year-old mother on Thursday.
Richard Jesus Flores was accused of attacking his grandmother Maria Valenzuela with a letter opener and a garden tool. Flores was living with his grandmother at the time of the attack Los Angeles County District Attorney’s officials said. During the attack, he stabbed Valenzuela to death, while his mother attempted to stop the attack and was also injured. Flores was arrested and now faces one count each of murder and attempted murder.
If convicted as charged, Flores will face 33 years to life in prison. He is currently being held in lieu of $2 million bail.
