PALMDALE – A Palmdale man pleaded no contest to manslaughter and kidnapping after a domestic violence led to the death of his girlfriend nearly 2 years ago.
On March 3, 2016, Bryan McKim, 58, was arguing with Linda Wood, 58, while in his pickup truck in the area of East Avenue R in the City of Palmdale. The verbal altercation turned physical and Wood attempted to exit the vehicle. McKim grabbed her by her hair and her arm to stop her from getting out of the vehicle. Wood finally escaped, jumping out of the moving pickup truck but bumped her head on the street. Wood died at the hospital on March 12, 2016.
McKim entered the plea to the two counts, including voluntary manslaughter and kidnapping. He is scheduled to be sentenced on March 1, 2018, only two days prior to the 2-year anniversary of the attack that led to the death of Wood. McKim faces over 12 years in prison.
