PHELAN – An 80-year-old Phelan man was arrested following a dispute between roommates on Thursday.
At around 12:13 a.m. deputies from the Victor Valley Station responded to the 14400 block of Tumbleweed Road in Phelan. When they arrived they learned that there was a dispute between roommates. When they arrived they learned that during the dispute, Ronald Patterson went into the home to grab his .22 caliber handgun.
Patterson fired two shots toward the victim, but the victim was not struck. The deputy opened the gun safe and located a simulator hand grenade device inside. Patterson was arrested and booked into the High Desert Detention Center for possession of an explosive device and assault with a firearm. He is being held in lieu of $500,000 bail.
