MORENO VALLEY, Ca. – An armed robbery suspect left his wallet behind, assisting police in locating him
Moreno Valley Police said that last week Marcel Smith, 44, of Moreno Valley, entered a restaurant and put his wallet on the counter as he reached for his handgun. He then demanded cash from the register, police said. Apparently not thinking, he fled the scene, leaving his wallet with identification on the counter. Deputies worked to find Smith, but they learned that he had moved from the address on his identification card.
Fortunately, Smith and his wallet were reunited after he called police to report his lost wallet. “Needless to say, we returned his property to him, and offered him lodging in our county jail, where he is being held without bail for armed robbery and a parole violation,” Moreno Valley Police officials said.
