HIGHLAND – A 36-year-old San Bernardino man was arrested on the suspicion of arson on Thursday afternoon in the City of Highland. Just before 12:30 p.m. as deputies were responding to an unrelated call they noticed a small quick spreading brush fire on Baseline between Boulder Avenue and Yarnell Road.
Martin Piceno-Rodriguez was located at the scene of the fire and witnesses said they saw him throwing an unidentified object toward the brush sparking the fire. The fire that spread to around a quarter acre was quickly extinguished by firefighters preventing spread to nearby homes.
Piceno-Rodriguez was taken into custody without further incident and was booked at Central Detention Center for Arson. He is being held in lieu of $250,000 bail and is scheduled to be arraigned on Monday.
