PHELAN-Sheriff Deputies locate an at-risk missing man and have him surrender to them without incident.
On Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at around 1:22 p.m., Sheriff Deputies were contacted by a concerned mother stating that her son a 33-year-old from the city of Victorville was missing. The mother explained that her son was going through personal problems and made statements to her that he was going to take his own life. Sheriff Deputies created a missing person report and passed this information on to other surrounding agencies.
At approximately 3:04 p.m., Sheriff Deputies were contacted again by the mother of the distressed man, stating that his late model Dodge Challenger had run out of gas on Phelan Road in the city of Phelan. Her son sent a text to her and by his statements, the mother felt that he had already injured himself.
Sheriff Deputies responded to the location that was given to them, and immediately shut down Phelan Road, between Eaby Road and Johnson Road. With the assistance of the Aviation Division of the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, the missing man was located. After deputies negotiated with him, he surrendered without incident at 3:55 p.m.
