VICTORVILLE – A 16-year-old Silverado High School student was arrested on Wednesday for bringing a handgun onto school campus authorities said.
On November 1, 2017, just before noon a School Resource Officer from the Victor Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to the school following the report by school staff that the student was believed to have a handgun in his backpack. When he arrived they made contact with the school staff and school security. Together they made contact with the student and confirmed the reports when the handgun was located in his backpack. Also in his backpack, in a separate pocket was a loaded magazine.
The student was interviewed by the deputy, arrested and booked into Juvenile Hall for the possession of the gun on the school campus. The investigation is ongoing, no other information is available for release. Information will be updated as it is received.
