FONTANA – Two women and one man were arrested after a shoplifting led a stabbing at the Kohl’s store in the City of Fontana on Thursday. Officers from the Fontana station were dispatched to the store in the 14900 block of Summit reference the stabbing. When they arrived they learned that the three suspects entered the store with the intent to shoplift from the store. The two women, Tina Morin and Cherokee Hicks concealed merchandise and attempted to leave the store without paying.
Loss prevention (LP) officers became aware of the incident and contacted the women as they were leaving the store. They asked them to return to the store but suspect, Larry Meyer made contact with the loss prevention officers while armed with mace and a knife. He attempted to free the two women by spraying the loss prevention officers with mace, he then stabbed one of the LP officers with the knife. All three fled in a vehicle, while the victim was rushed to the hospital. According to authorities, the victim’s injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.
Witnesses were able to assist in locating and detaining all three suspects at their home in the 800 block of S. Cypress Avenue in the City of Ontario. The three were positively identified and were booked into the West Valley Detention Center. Larry Meyer is being held for attempted murder and for probation. He is also a registered sex offender. Tina Morin was arrested for robbery and was on federal probation for drug trafficking. Cherokee Hicks was arrested for robbery and outstanding warrants.
