COACHELLA – Three arrests have been made in connection with two robberies, one on Tuesday, January 3, 2017, in Coachella, and the second on Thursday, February 2, 2017, in La Quinta, authorities said.
Both incidents occurred when the victims agreed to meet with the suspects via and online phone app. The victims agreed to sell the suspects some personal items that they had listed for sale. When they arrived at the location and met with the suspects they were robbed at gunpoint. The suspects fled the scene with the items intended for sale.
A lengthy investigation led to several suspects and on Friday, February 3, 2017, authorities served the search warrants in the cities of Palm Desert, Indio and Coachella. The search led to the finding of ammunition, airsoft weapons, narcotics and property belonging to one of the victims.
Juan Carlos Reatiga Jr., 19, of Indio and David Cruz Espinoza, 23, of Coachella were booked into the Indio jail for robbery, conspiracy, possession of stolen property and committing a felony while using a firearm. Cheyenne Summer Jones, 19 of Palm Desert was arrested and booked into the Indio jail for conspiracy, possession of stolen property and accessory.
The investigation is ongoing and additional arrests are anticipated.
