BARSTOW, CA. – Three teens, all from the City of Hawthorne, were arrested for stealing from multiple stores at the Barstow Outlets on Monday afternoon.
Officers from the Barstow Police Department were made aware of the thefts that were in progress at the Tommy Hilfiger located at 2796 Tanger Way. The caller told dispatchers that a black male juvenile grabbed several items from the store, then left without paying for them. The caller then told the Mall Security who saw the teens walking toward the restrooms, An officer arrived and made contact with the security officer, and was able to review video of the theft.
The officer then made contact with the three teens but was only able to detain one as the other two ran away, north in the parking lot. Two other Barstow Police officers arrived and were flagged down by an employee who directed them to the other two suspects, who were near the Loft Outlet Store. The two suspects were detained. Police learned that the teens were traveling from Las Vegas, Nevada, to their home in Hawthorne. They stopped at the mall to shop. The teens stole merchandise from Tommy Hilfiger, Ralph Lauren, Old Navy and Guess Outlet Stores.
All were identified by employees and surveillance video and arrested for PC 459.5. – Shoplifting. All three juveniles were released to their guardian.
A report will be sent to the San Bernardino County Juvenile District Attorney’s Office for review.
